Henry Cavill may not be returning as Superman or Geralt, but he is all set to step his foot into an unchartered territory of the spy genre. Matthew Vauhgn’s upcoming spy action comedy film, Argylle, is still months away from its release. However, it is already making a big splash among fans. Whether it is the star-studded ensemble, the sizzling chemistry between its leads, or the peculiar hairstyle of Cavill, the film has been getting everyone talking before it is even out.

That Argylle would not follow the usual spy movie formula is something fans might look forward to. Vaughn recently confirmed that he would be pushing the film beyond clichéd spy tropes.

Fans have grown accustomed to good-looking agents in sharp suits, drawing all eyes the second they step in. Despite taking this route in the Kingman franchise, the 52-year-old British filmmaker, Matthew Vaughn, now feels that these clichés are “pretty dumb” as spies need to be stealthy and inconspicuous during their secret missions. Vaugh revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that he is not into the predictable conventions of spy cinemas and will be “destroying” all these tropes in his next.

Vaughn also talked about the qualities of a good spy, saying it should be a “person you least expect the spy to be”. The filmmaker further took a jab at the James Bond movies through a statement by Roger Moore. He believes that it does not make sense for a secret agent to be so noticeable that he walks into a room and everyone knows his name, which, as per Vaughn, “it’s ridiculous.”

Henry Cavill has been striving towards his dream to be a part of the James Bond franchise since his 20s. Despite giving impressive auditions, he missed out on the role as he was too young to play the 007. Now that he is in his 40s, that actor is apparently too old to pick up the torch from the legendary actor, David Craig. Recently, an insider revealed that another British actor is inching closer to bagging the role of the MI6 agent.

As per Daily Mail, the producer of the upcoming 007 Bond installment is considering Aaron Taylor-Johnson for the role. However, Christopher Nolan, who will be allegedly directing the upcoming movie, wants to put a fresh spin on the franchise. This could be an obstacle in the way of Johnson to get the role. And could also open the door for Henry Cavill’s entry into the franchise. However, there has not been any official confirmation regarding who will carry forward the legacy of Bond yet.
