While talking exclusively on the podcast Literally! with Rob Lowe, the Terminator actor made a shocking revelation. He mentioned that various studio executives and directors were not impressed by him and said, “It’s never going to happen.“ The main factors that contributed to this were his physique, accent, and a rather amusing last name. Further, the legendary actor was continuously compared with other legendary superstars such as Al Pacino, De Niro, and Woody Allen.
Schwarzenegger further revealed that during the initial years of his career, his accent was heavily criticized so much so that the actor could not get lead roles due to it. Further, they said, “The German accent is scary for most Americans”. Additionally, the actor playfully mentioned that they were not able to pronounce his name correctly. The moment he used to mention his name, they immediately started laughing.
The actor converted the laughter into inspiration and proved to everyone that he’s not just a bodybuilder. However, proving them wrong once was not enough, the actor did it twice.

Life took a drastic turn for the actor when he decided to move away from his usual macho action-packed movies to a more comedy genre in 1988’s Twins. The film went on to grab $200 million on a meagre budget of $18 million. After this, there was no going back for Schwarzenegger, who then worked in a string of comedy movies in the 1990s.
Twins was a huge financial success for the actor. However, his successful streak did not stop there. Time and again, Schwarzenegger challenged the rejections he faced while knocking at various doors. Once he had made sure that all the doors in Hollywood opened for him, he went on to politics. While he could never become the President of the United States, Arnold Schwarzenegger made sure to still become Governor.
