Jada Pinkett Smith hosts a talk show called Red Table Talk where she, along with her mother and daughter, talks on various topics. On the occasion of Father’s Day, the host of the show had an insightful conversation with her husband, Will Smith about their parenting style. The father of three shared his personal experiences from being a child to becoming a father.

How one is raised by their parents always affects one’s parenting style. The same thing happened with the Emancipation actor. During their conversation, Smith revealed his father was strict and disciplinarian, per Yahoo! Although he appreciated some of the wisdom, as he also mentioned in his memoir.

While talking about how his relationship was with his father, the 51-year-old actor also reflected upon how he failed his first marriage. However, he did not get into the specific details. But talking about it brought tears to the eyes of the father of three.

Given the Smith family had been an object for the public eye, the Bad Boys actor and his wife also talked about how Willow and Jaden’s work made huge headlines. The Aladdin actor revealed how people thought he and his wife were forcing their children to work. Nevertheless, the parents believed it was a part of their education for life. Papa Smith also believed choosing to homeschool their children was better. The reason was his kids being him would have added more value to their lives instead of sitting in a classroom.

Both these parents admitted they tried their best to give their children everything they had never had. And it led them to talk about their children’s personal and professional pursuits as well.

However, while talking about their parenting style, the Red Table Talk host and her husband also admitted they had committed some mistakes as well. But trying to teach life lessons to help them choose the right career path, the Smiths learned to give freedom to their children.

During their entire conversation, the Smith parents introspected while sharing their views with each other. The Men in Black actor also admitted there were no rules of parenting. “It’s more art than there is science, and, you know, I love what we’re painting,” added the actor. Even on a different episode, Jada Pinkett Smith talked about her mistake of being a co-parent with Smith’s ex-wife, Sheree Zampino.
