Matthew Vaughn appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast on October 19 to talk about his forthcoming movie, Argylle. During the interview, the host asked him if it was based on the book. In his response, the director said it was and the book will hit the shelves in January 2024. He revealed most of his projects are love letters to films he loved as a kid or something he could revive. Somehow, he got his hands on the book and then the team got the manuscript and they started working on it.

“It is a very meta movie, so it’s got lots of tropes that I’ve been guilty of making with spy movies,” added the filmmaker. They have tried to reinvent things through it because there will be more books. According to him, the movie will not only depict an author writing a book which comes to life but will introduce a meta-universe of spy stories. So beside destroying James Bond tropes, this franchise might become a strong opponent for 007 in the future.

In talks with Josh Horowitz, Matthew Vaughn talked about the journey of Henry Cavill in the entertainment industry. The host mentioned when he cast Cavill in Stardust he might have known that he had the talent to do anything. Whether it was playing Superman or any other roles. To this, the London native revealed he “cheered” the British Superstar when he got that iconic role because he has always been the second choice for casting in franchises.

The director continued that the 40-year-old had started doubting himself if he would ever be on the top. But according to him, “he is actually blossoming” as an actor and people will see it in the upcoming movie. Vaughn gushed that he had done a great job in the movie and that he himself was a big fan of Cavill’s work. So fans should mark their calendars for February 2, 2024, when this film hit theatres in the US.
