After months of long-standing fans’ anticipation and pleas to have him usher in a new role after exiting The Witcher and being snubbed as Superman from James Gunn’s DC, the actor’s new role has him kick-starting a franchise. While a significant chunk of the movie’s promotions have relied on press events and media highlighting its meta aspect, Taylor Swift, being the reclusive Elly Conway, played an unsung role in the same.

In light of this, Bryce Dallas Howard, playing the in-movie version of the author, shed light on the details.

For the most of it, Taylor Swift stands stall as a pop star with superstardom at her disposal. However, a bevy of likely connections between the singer and the real-life author behind the Argylle novel hinted at the two being the same persona. As reported by People, Bryce Dallas Howard opened up on Friday’s episode of The Graham Norton Show with “We can’t pretend she was involved.” However, while denying the singer’s involvement, the actress did not outright brush away the former’s association with Argylle.

Expanding on her statement, the Jurassic World actress continued, “The reality is she was in many ways a great inspiration.” Connecting the dots, she touched upon how her character and the ‘1989’ singer shared overwhelming similarities. Both of them own a Scottish Fold cat and carry the same in a similar backpack. Thereafter, one of Swift’s music videos somewhat referred to the movie’s plot. Finally, the latter’s social media handles reciprocated by sharing her song lyrics, fanning rumors.

In sharp contrast, the movie’s lead actor had other notions of the same.

Playing Agent Argylle, Henry Cavill stands set to carry Matthew Vaughn’s spy-thriller franchise through the box office. However, speaking to Entertainment Tonight on Taylor Swift’s involvement, the British actor wittingly remarked, “What if we double-bluffed and it actually was her?” Thereafter, he proceeded on to outline his love for the Kansas City Chiefs and thus, staying open to being a Swiftie.

Interestingly, Cavill’s own role remains somewhat shrouded in mystery. Taking a meta-approach, whether his character remains merely a reflection experienced by Elly Conway or one that exists also stands for much debate. Regardless, the actor remains confident of his new outing shining and standing out despite sporting a rather odd haircut.
