Recent speculation about The Batman – Part II being canceled was addressed by James Gunn, who confirmed the project remains active. Delays stemmed from the 2023 Hollywood strikes, pushing the release to October 2026 and later to October 2027. Gunn clarified these were part of the creative process, stating on Threads, "The only reason for the delay is there isn’t a full script." At the Golden Globes, Matt Reeves shared an update with Deadline: “I can tell you that we’re gonna be shooting this year and that we’re excited about it.” 

While Reeves avoided script specifics, he hinted at new cast additions. Concerns grew when Robert Pattinson signed onto a new Christopher Nolan film, sparking fears of scheduling conflicts. Pattinson assured fans he would prioritize The Batman – Part II after completing Nolan’s project, suggesting filming could start by late 2025.
