Theatre executives and personnel eagerly anticipated the arrival of the star on Wednesday night. However, an unexpected thunderstorm delayed his arrival in Manhattan. He arrived at the venue long after the initial presentation had concluded.

The studio organized an immediate private re-screening, but Cruise refused to watch the three-hour masterpiece alone. He rounded up every custodian sweeping floors and employee restocking concession stands to watch the film alongside him.
