“Insanely unkind” – Shazam Hero Zachary Levi Answers to Criticism After Making Comments on Henry Cavill Starrer ‘Black Adam’
Zachary Levi is feeling the heat of critics. The actor is one of the biggest faces of DC and got to share Dwayne Johnson’s experience when his own film did surprisingly bad in these unpredictable times. The American actor, known for playing Chuck, has formed a strong fanbase with a few roles. But he was left shaken when its criticism was too bad.
The Shazam! Fury of the Gods released on 17th March 2023, with him playing, bringing the DC character onto the big screens. It has action, fantasy, and all the nostalgic parts of the comic book. But sometimes even the biggest of brands and names cannot save a movie.

Shazam was one of the biggest anticipated movies, at least for Levi. But the failure of it has touched him deeply. As per Yahoo, he revealed to The FilmUp Podcast of being shocked by the bad review and that he did not expect it to be so bad. “People were insanely unkind,” he said, referring to it the critics who scored his movie bad.
As per him, the fans accepted it still fairly, but the comments left hurt him. That has made him unsure about the future of the Shazam franchise. He also admitted that although the movie was not the perfect one, the outcome was lower than what the makers expected.
The planning failed as the movie bombed by earning only $133.8 million out of its budget of $90-100 million. A lot like the way Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam failed after so much hype. Even Henry Cavill’s appearance could not save the movie. What it did do is create drama regarding Levi and Johnson.
It exposed a whole episode of drama between actors of two superhero movies, with fans partaking in it as well.

Henry Cavill famously appeared in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam that the latter product promoted. DC also put all its eggs into that basket, only to fail. Now, there were reports of Levi originally making a cameo in the movie as Shazam like other actors.
Then there were speculations of him being pulled out and replaced by The Witcher actor instead. Notably, the person responsible for this move is said to be Johnson. The Tangled voice actor confirmed this news by posting a quote that said, “the truth shall set you free”. It is almost interesting how their two characters are also supposed to be archenemies of each other.
