“Ignore gal”: Gal Gadot Fails to Impress, as Rachel Zegler Has Fans in Chokehold With ‘Snow White’ First Look

Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of the animated classic, Snow White, has been a magnet for controversy ever since its cast was revealed. Rachel Zegler’s casting drew in a lot of racial backlash from fans and managed to get on the wrong side of anti-woke crusaders. However, it now seems that Zegler has managed to turn the tables with her undeniable charm and on-screen presence. The trailer for the much-discussed Disney film, Snow White, has finally given the first glimpse of the actress as the iconic character.

To everyone’s surprise, Zegler managed to overshadow even Gal Gadot, as was seen in the first clip of the live-action flick.

While Rachel Zegler will play the titular character in Snow White, Gal Gadot is taking on her on-screen antagonist, the Evil Queen. The trailer made its debut during the special D23 presentation at the Honda Center. Fans have been singing Zegler’s praises as Snow White ever since, despite all the controversy for inaccuracies, with her signature bob haircut, surrounded by the group of seven dwarfs. They also appreciated the movie’s visuals. However, some have thrown shade at Gal Gadot for not quite hitting the mark.

Despite the mixed reviews, Gadot was all smiles about her character. She shared her thoughts on playing the iconic villain at the D23 event, saying, "She’s delicious, she’s evil, she’s magical." Directed by Marc Webb, Snow White will be released in the spring of 2025, adding another gem to Disney’s growing collection of live-action remakes. While Gadot could still change public perception with the movie’s full release, the trailer has not exactly won fans over.

Gal Gadot’s casting in Snow White seemed like it was just asking for more drama, as many fans were already riled up over her polarizing political views. Taking on the role of the Evil Queen is also a major shift for Gadot since the Wonder Woman star has mostly always been cast as the protagonist. However, after the first trailer teaser, fans are now wondering if she will be able to do justice to the Evil Queen.

There were still fans who had Gal Gadot’s back, nonetheless.

Gal Gadot has been pigeonholed as a protagonist for so long that the prospect of seeing her as the Evil Queen was very intriguing to fans. However, judging by the trailer’s reaction, It cannot be said for sure if she will create an impact reminiscent of Angelina Jolie in Maleficent or if she will get a wake-up call and stick to playing the good guy.
