Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have said a lot of things about the royal family since the infamous Megxit, and the former lead vocalist of Sex Pistols, John “Johnny Rotten” Lydon, has had enough of it. Living just 60 miles from the Sussexes, the singer-songwriter is of the opinion that the couple and their dynamic with the royal family are “so messy.”
Lydon has had his fair share of exits in his life and relates to what Markle and the Duke have been through. “I’ve had to make decisions like this in the past,” said Lydon to The Telegraph in a recent interview. The singer had to leave Sex Pistols in 1978 and had to dissolve his own group, Public Image Ltd. in 1993 because the situation was unsustainable. So, he understands the dilemma the couple were probably facing, but then he has advice for them: “If you want to be normal and outside of [the Royal Family], then f**k off.”
Aside from the bombshell interviews, Sussexes also chose to talk about their experiences in the royal family through Prince Harry’s memoir Spare. The contents of the book did raise a lot of eyebrows and heated discussions about the inconsistencies peppered in it. Referencing the book, the singer closed his remark on the couple by saying how he has never been “one for kiss and tell books.“
While Lydon seems to have advice that many have been giving the Sussexes before, will they really “shut up?”
Will they heed the advice?

Since the release of Spare and the uproar that followed, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been staying silent. While many think the silence is a precursor to a storm, the former actress is probably focused on the revival of The Tig, the lifestyle blog she used to run previously. That said, the Sussexes do have another one of their Netflix projects slated for release later this year.
The upcoming docuseries, named Heart of Invictus, would follow a group of veterans preparing for the Invictus Games. We will have to wait and see whether the Sussexes will use the series as a platform to speak up more about the issues they have faced within the palace or if they will listen to Lydon’s advice.
