The Spotify beef with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has spread like a forest fire. Ever since the Swedish giant parted its ways with the Archewell Foundation of the Sussexes, there have been innumerable controversies and backlashes targeted at the couple. Adding fuel to the fire was Spotify boss, Bill Simmons, who trashed the couple, especially the Duke, with some shocking remarks. Following the lead is the latest celeb vying for Pat Sajak’s ‘Wheel of Fortune gig, Stephen A. Smith. The American TV personality has joined the long line of celebrities that have chipped in on the Sussexes. 

Speaking on his show, The Stephen A. Smith Show, the host talked about how the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex keep themselves in the spotlight of the showbiz industry, only to find themselves on the receiving end of trenchant criticism.

“If Prince Harry and Duchess of Sussex ain’t complaining about the royal family, I don’t know if anybody cares what they have to say,” remarked Smith. He kept on repeating throughout his latest show that no one pays any heed to the couple until they are back on their anti-royal saga with the media giants. 

He, however, made it absolutely clear that none of it was personal. He harbors no genuine hatred towards the couple and it is just the negative publicity that he dislikes. Smith even confessed how dearly he loves Meghan Markle in her hit US show, Suits.

“I’m not trying to dog (Meghan Markle)…”. “She did damn good,” said Smith, referring to her character in the paralegal show. “I love Suits. Matter of fact, I’m gonna watch it again… I love that show,” gushed the host as he praised the Duchess for her work. 

However, the thing that still pricks the media bigwig is that they become irrelevant until they are insulting their family. But what is the fuss all about?

For those unversed, the controversies are rooted in the recent tug-of-war between the Sussexes and the media giant, Spotify, which is currently facing an economic earthquake. Both parties had long signed a multi-million dollar deal that fetched us an award-winning podcast like Archetypes with Meghan Markle on Spotify. 

However, unfortunately, the contract came to a “mutually decided” termination. Moreover, the executive of the podcast division of the team, Bill Simmons, took to his platform to express his abhorrence toward Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. “F*cking grifters,” he labeled them, creating quite a stir on social media.
