According to a recent report by The Wrap, Idris Elba is in early talks to play Man-At-Arms in the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe feature film under Travis Knight’s directorial. Elba will join forces alongside Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, and Alison Brie for the movie based on the Mattel franchise. Galitzine is set to portray He-Man, Mendes will play Teela, and Brie is taking over the role of Evil-Lyn. 

Chris Butler will oversee the screenplay with an initial draft written by David Callaham, Aaron, and Adam Nee. While the plot details are on the down-low for now, a vague overview suggests it will allegedly follow Prince Adam’s journey to becoming He-Man. Escape Artists and Mattel Films are producing the Masters of the Universe, which is set to be released on June 5, 2025.

Elba’s casting as Man-At-Arms is not confirmed yet, but the bigger question may revolve surrounding the character itself.

Mattel inducted the universe of He-Man in 1982 with the launch of the toy line called Masters of the Universe, followed by the debut of the animated series, He-Man and Masters of the Universe. For those unaware of Man-At-Arms, he is He-Man’s closest friend, according to the originally packaged Mattel toy line. Man-At-Arms is also Teela’s adoptive father.

Man-At-Arms specializes in inventing weapons and transportation used by the Heroic Warriors of the Masters of the Universe. He additionally works to aid He-Man with every material resource available to him.
