The actresses at The Hollywood Reporter’s roundtable reacted to an experience Anne Hathaway shared with V Magazine in April. The Interstellar actress mentioned that in the 2000s, it was “considered normal” for casting directors to ask an actor for intimacy tests. Reflecting on how times have changed in the industry, the drama actresses admitted to having found themselves in similar situations in their early days.
Jennifer Aniston, however, shared that she was never coerced into awkward tests to “simulate” intimacy. “And if asked, I would never,” proclaimed the 55-year-old. She has previously stated that she has been in the industry long enough to “figure” out how to bring that chemistry on the screen, referencing her intimate scenes with Jon Hamm and the necessity of coordinators. Over the years, she has not only understood the importance of taking the guidance of professionals for intimacy on screen but has also come to appreciate the enormous career she has built on her own.
