Something was reignited between Will and Jada Pinkett Smith during the night of the Oscar slap, and that one incident, cast a new hope in their relationship. 

Recently, Jada spoke about the Oscar incident once again. She shared how it positively impacted her longstanding relationship with Will, which has seen seven years of separation.

Jada Pinkett Smith was glad that the slapgate happened 

In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Jada Pinkett Smith opened up about the ups and downs in her marriage with Will. She shed light on the infamous Slapgate and discussed how the couple’s dynamic changed after the incident. “It took that slap for me to realize I will never leave him”, said the actress who had spent years pondering the future of her relationship. The subject also came up during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show just last month.

Jada Pinkett Smith went on record expressing her surprise at Will’s use of the term “wife” at the Oscars. Despite the initial shock, this unexpected reference fostered a renewed connection between her and the King Richard actor. Speaking on The Drew Barrymore Show, she openly declared her intention to stay with Will forever and give their relationship another chance. However, Will was against the declaration of their marriage separation. 

In the Daily Mail interview, she explained her decision to disclose their separation, despite the disapproval of Will Smith. 

The reason behind Jada’s revelation

Jada Pinkett Smith said in a podcast she co-hosted, Red Table Talk, that she had an “entanglement” with a troubled young singer/songwriter called August Alsina, who was 19 years younger than her. Jada told Daily Mail that she decided to speak about her relationship with Will after an “entanglee” had spoken about it. Although she did not take Alsina’s name, she hinted at the 31-year-old singer’s song called ‘Entanglements’.  

The song had lyrics saying, “You left your man just to f*** with me, just to pay him back”. Jada explained that she wanted to confront that. “It was my mess, and I took the bullet for it”, added Jada while delving into the rationale behind her decision to go public about their separation. After the storm they faced, Jada and Will are now finding a positive path in their dynamic.
