Matthew Perry has had the longest struggles behind his sarcastic humor. The actor got huge recognition as a funny guy, Chandler Bing, on the show Friends. While the big screen was treating the 53-year-old actor with great appreciation, he was suffering from anxiety, drug abuse, and addiction behind the screen. In his book, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, the Friends fame wrote about all of it, including a controversial comment about Keanu Reeves.
In the autobiography, the 17 Again actor takes the readers to his life behind the scenes. From talking about his days on the ’90s sitcom to his journey to rehab, the actor was pretty candid about everything. Along the way, when the author talked about the deaths of his once co-stars River Phoenix and Chris Farley, Perry mentioned the John Wick star. He wrote while Reeves “walks among us,” referring to the deaths of his colleagues. However, in his interview with the Los Angeles Times, he addressed the comment and admitted it was a mistake.

The Serving Sara actor said, “I said a stupid thing. It was a mean thing to do.” In an attempt to correct his mistake, the American actor promised Keanu Reeves’ name would be removed from further editions of the book. Although Perry publicly apologized for including The Matrix actor’s name, the actor admitted he never apologized to Reeves in person.
Again remembering the stupid mistake, Perry also promised to apologize to Reeves as soon as he would run into him. During the conversation, he also talked more about how Friends was still the new generation’s favorite sitcom.

Additionally, the Screen Actors Guild Award-winning actor also addressed the criticism about the show lacking diversity. He accepted the criticism and explained people did not talk about diversity at the time.
Moreover, he acknowledged the fact that they created the show at a different time. Therefore, because of different circumstances, the show might not resonate with today’s generation. Jennifer Aniston also addressed the criticism of the show about some calling the sitcom “unfunny.”
