Sydney Sweeney is probably one of the fastest-rising actresses on the scene right now. After she reached global recognition with the show, the actress has been offered role after role. But while Euphoria might be her big break, it is not the first hit series that the actress has starred in. In fact, the actress’s career began way back in 2009, ten years before the hit drama series came out.

Back in 2018, Sweeney revealed in an interview with L’officiel that she had already had her worst fan interaction. After her stint on The Handmaid’s Tale, she said that she had bumped into a fan of the show during a dinner, who asked her if she played Eden on the show. When the actress said that she did, it was met with an “I hate your character.”
Despite the seemingly negative comment, the actress could see the positive in the situation as she just said “Thank you!” and laughed. She also went on to tell interviews that she “got a lot of hate” for her character. Being one of the most significant characters in the second season of The Handmaid’s Tale in 2017, it is not surprising that fans had powerful feelings towards her role.
The actress had more to say about her audition for the role of Eden, even though her opinion might be different now due to the backlash Euphoria received. As a known bookworm, the actress said something that would surprise anyone.
How Sydney Sweeney landed her role in The Handmaid’s Tale
In the same 2018 interview, Sydney Sweeney, who recently revealed her favorite novel genre, opened up about how she landed a role in not one, but two shows that were based on books by female authors. Considering what a bookworm the actress is, fans would be surprised to find out that she had not read the books. But when she got the audition for the role of Eden, the actress says she decided to watch the pilot but “ended up watching all 10 episodes that single night.”

But when she got the call back for The Handmaid’s Tale, Sweeney not only got the book but ended up reading it more than once. She continued to say that it surprised her that she waited so long to finally read the book.
Meanwhile, the actress is currently expected to star in the fifth and final season of Euphoria. But that will not be the last fans will see of the star, as she is set to star in a long list of films and movies that are scheduled to be released later this year. While the wait for Euphoria continues till 2025, at least fans will have other shows and movies to keep them company.
