Speaking at Josh Horowitz's Happy, Sad, and Confused podcast, Rob Kazinsky went candid as he shared a deeply personal secret that had been a driving force behind his passion for Star Trek: Section 31. Kazinsky revealed, "I am an autistic human being," being diagnosed at the age of 30. Delving deeper into his experiences, the star explained how his autism often left him feeling tense and fixated on specific interests; and for him, that obsession was Star Trek.
The franchise, Kazinsky confessed, had been his "comfort blanket since I was eight years old." He had watched every episode, memorized countless lines of dialogue, and found solace in the show's vision of a better future. What might come off as an exaggeration actually held value for the star as he said, "it was a guiding light of morality" for him influenced his worldview, and provided a sense of belonging.
Kazinsky's love for Star Trek further strengthened as he hopped onto the bandwagon of A-lists for his favorite show in the making.
Kazinsky reveals the moment he realized he made it into his dream cast
When asked about their "Pinch me" moments in the same podcast, Rob Kazinsky reflected on his journey to starring in Star Trek: Section 31. He recalled the moment it all became real as he got a phone call from the director, Tunde. He received the call pre-production as the director revealed he wanted more screen time with the star. "That was a pinch me moment," exclaimed Kazinsky.

He revealed it was that moment when the reality of starring in his beloved franchise sunk in. Concurring with the same, the host added how amazing it must have felt to join in the DNA of the show. Filmed in Toronto, Canada, from January to March 2024. The Star Trek: Section 31 was released on Paramount+ on January 24, 2025. Despite its promising premise, the movie has had mixed reviews as of yet.
