During Gemini Man‘s promotions, Smith was interviewed by CalTv and posed the question of what his clone would be doing at the moment if he had one. With his typical light-hearted humor, the 55-year-old joked that his clone would be the one “doing” that interview while he got “some rest”. After a hearty laugh, Smith confessed in a serious tone that the subject of clones is an “intriguing scientific idea” for him.
To see two of himself on screen had been a “chilling” experience for him and he was “excited” about the possibilities a discovery like that would present, especially for “artists”. When probed on what his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith thought about his “younger version” in the film, the Emancipation star joked that he “didn’t need to hear” that. So, he told her to keep those thoughts “to herself”.
Back then, Smith also had an intriguing take on how he managed to make a convincing impression of his younger self.
