Zack Snyder’s Justice League has been hailed as a cinematic masterpiece by many, offering a bold and visionary take on the beloved superhero team. Snyder’s distinct visual style and epic scale create a visually stunning and emotionally resonant world. A world where Henry Cavill, with his unconventional approach to the red-caped superhero, absolutely thrived in. But barring Henry Cavill, Zack Snyder, and their esoteric fandom, the movie has been the bane of the existence of many.

While the original movie was released in 2017, it was not until the premiere of Justice League‘s Snyder Cut that active discussion on the depth of the plot and its impact spread like wildfire. This wildfire has seemingly caused more damage to Warner Bros. studio than anything else.

Warner Bros. and DC have faced challenges in recent years with their movie releases, struggling to consistently capture the same level of enthusiasm from fans. Amid a series of mixed receptions and divisive films, it was Zack Snyder’s Justice League that reignited the passion among DC fans. Instead of putting it to good use, Warner Bros. developed a notorious reputation for shunning the Snyderverse with the exception of Zack Snyder’s Justice League’s release on HBO. And according to Variety, the studio believes they should have refrained from releasing Justice League‘s Snyder cut as well.

While the HBO release did help the studio reignite passionate discussions about the trajectory of DC superheroes’ next missions, it also cemented in the Synder fandom the belief that the Snyderverse is far superior. Therefore, as James Gunn takes over DC alongside Peter Saffran, the Synder fandom has only grown stronger in its revolt against the studio.

The DC superheroes have not generated a massive uproar in recent years except for Henry Cavill. The actor, albeit new upon his arrival as Superman, added a level of maturity to the red-caped superhero that fans had mostly known to have a one-dimensional personality. In the hands of Snyder, Cavill’s Superman offered a beacon of hope and strength that could indeed help revitalize DC’s cinematic endeavors. However, James Gunn has closed the chapter, as he did not waste any time in recasting his new and notably younger Superman.

While Henry Cavill did have the potential to take DC to its pinnacle, he was never their only option. As James Gunn takes on the reins, he has already presented the fandom with new characters and exciting projects that have stirred up excitement. However, to see whether James Gunn can be as much of a savior as Henry Cavill, one will have to wait until the release of Superman: Legacy.
