How This One Broadway Script’s Auction Price Puts ‘Friends’ Latest $28K Price Tag to Shame
Friends fans have always found a happy place in the contagious laughter of its characters. Even after decades, the series remains one of the best comedies on television. But the latest auction for unused show scripts has reaffirmed the lasting allure it has created in the audience. According to the reports, Hansons’ Hertfordshire Saleroom recently sold the original scripts of two episodes of season 4 for a whopping amount of $28,000.
While fans of the show might have found this amount quite stunning for discarded scripts, it certainly is nowhere near the price of this Broadway script.

In 2017, the original 1961 working script of Audrey Hepburn’s classic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s set a record for the most expensive script ever sold. Tiffany & Co. bought the copy at the price of $846,619 which included notes in her handwriting and deleted scenes as well. The British actress received an nominated for Academy Award for her role as Holly Golightly, a woman with an affinity for the high-end jewelry store, in the romantic comedy.
The luxury jewelry design house took the script as a token of memory. Her sons collected over 250 items from the legendary actor’s life and career and put them at auction. The auction took place in London and ran for ten hours, which earned a whopping amount of about $6,202,299 only from collectibles. Over 12,000 people gathered to watch the times at the public auction.
From her Givenchy dresses to used ballet flats and even an eye mask, all the things went for thousands of dollars. This auction was a true testament to the legacy Hepburn created with her film.

Released in 1961, Breakfast at Tiffany’s revolves around a naïve, eccentric café society girl who falls in love with a struggling writer. The film was an instant success and Audrey Hepburn received widespread praise for her performance in the film. It racked up five Oscar nominations, bagging two of them. Besides this, the movie got six Grammy Awards nods, winning five out of them. In 2012, the Library of Congress was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.
Though the Friends series could not match this mark created by the film, it has achieved a rare feat recently. The show became one of the greatest comedy dramas ever made in television history. Not to mention, thousands of people around the globe still rewatch this show whenever they miss the 90s nostalgic laughs of the gang sipping coffee in Central Perk. Despite the script war, both projects have their own legacy that is undebatable for.
