Ryan Reynolds is already entertaining on his own. But put him with the right person, and his humor hits a whole other level. He is known for having great chemistry with the actors he shares the screen with. And some of his recent pairings have been especially unforgettable because of the incredible connection they build on screen. It almost feels like he is genuinely friends with everyone he works with. And one of those lucky co-stars is Samuel L. Jackson, who got the chance to team up with Reynolds once, for a project he considers far from any masterpiece. 

In fact, it was Reynolds’ involvement that became the key reason Jackson decided to come on board and join the project in the first place. 

Samuel L. Jackson sat down with Vulture for a chat in 2023, where he opened up about his experience working on the 2017 action-comedy The Hitman's Bodyguard with Ryan Reynolds. "I don’t think the Hitman’s Bodyguard is an A-list movie in anybody’s category,” the actor told the publication. But the fact that Reynolds was his co-star and that he would get to have a "good ****ing time" with him is what convinced him the movie would resonate with audiences. And he was probably right. 

Even though the film received mixed reviews due to its clichéd plot and execution, it was the chemistry between Jackson and Reynolds that really carried the film. Hugh Jackman has also shared a number of funny stories from working with the Canadian actor on Deadpool & Wolverine- the actor with whom Reynolds had a long-standing friendly rivalry, partly sparked by his ex-wife, Scarlett Johansson. Speaking of which, Jackson also touched on Reynolds’ marriage to Johansson during the Vulture conversation.

Jackson even recalled the strange gift he gave to Reynolds and Johansson when they got married.

Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson’s love story may not have been as publicized as his with Blake Lively, but their high-profile wedding definitely was headline-grabbing back in the day. Samuel L. Jackson recently shared that for their wedding, he gifted them a beehive. The Black Widow actress was a big fan of beekeeping, so Jackson had his assistant go out and buy 10 pounds of bees. He also threw in bee suits and everything they would need to get started.

Reynolds and Johansson kept the bees for a while and even harvested honey for a couple of years during their marriage. However, one day the bees mysteriously abandoned the hive. And just like that, Reynolds and Johansson’s marriage also broke off shortly. Nonetheless, from Jackson's interview, it is safe to say that Reynolds’ infectious energy on set and his chemistry with his co-stars have made him a favorite among Hollywood bigwigs.
