How Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Set a New Record With Wrexham
Wrexham’s fairy tale run in the National League last year is not unknown to the masses. After a long wait of nearly 20 years, the Red Dragons clenched their first promotion to the second division. While the players did an incredible job on the pitch, it was Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney from outside who played a huge role in contributing to the team’s success. As Wrexham currently enjoys its pre-season friendlies, interesting news about the club’s previous season surfaced online.
We are no strangers to the fact that Reynolds and McElhenney have turned the tides for the Red Dragons. Apart from helping the club become incredibly popular, the duo greatly improved the team. Throughout their run as owners, both Hollywood stars have spent a huge amount of money on Wrexham. A surprising as it sounds, Wrexham set a new record in the National League thanks to Reynolds and McElhenney. As per reports by BBC, the Red Dragons was the only team in the fifth-tier League who flew across the nation for all their fixtures. Unlike teams in the division who use buses for their travels, Wrexham on the other hand took flights for their games.

The shortest flight Reynolds’ side took was nearly 29 minutes against Gateshead, to fly to North East. On the other hand, the average time of their flights was nearly 43.5 minutes. Meanwhile, the club took almost all its flights from Manchester Airport. Interestingly, the owners even promised a whooping $250,000 as a bonus for every player for winning the National League.
Moreover, even teams who are playing for higher divisions do not take flights for every game. However, at the same time, the Red Dragons have also become subject to criticism. The club taking flights for short durations has become a cause of environmental concern and Wrexham has received heat for the same.

Wrexham, as we all know, will soon be making their entry into the Second Division after nearly 20 years. Unsurprisingly, the team is leaving no stone unturned to prepare their best for their league matches. Moreover, the Red Dragons have been playing pre-season friendlies against some of the biggest teams. However, there seems to be some major concern for Wrexham fans ahead of the new season.
A major shocker came for the fans a while ago as star striker Paul Mullin suffered a severe injury. Their recent friendly against Manchester United has left Mullin with a punctured lung as a result of a tackle by keeper Nathan Bishop. The 28-year-old was Wrexham’s top scorer for two seasons and will be ruled out during the start of the new season.
