Owning a club, let alone the third-oldest professional football club, is indeed a big deal. It takes a lot of your energy as well as your money. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over Wrexham AFC in 2021. Though the duo has been much appreciated for their efforts to take the club to the top, there have also been questions about how much money the Deadpool actor had to pay to the previous owners.

Reynolds owns more than one company alongside his acting career and his net worth is $350 million. The Hollywood celebrity and his partner paid £2 million to buy the club from the trust. Before Hollywood celebrities took over the club, the Wrexham Supporters’ Trust owned it since 2011. The trust had around 2,000 members who were the club’s own fans. In 2008, Wrexham AFC got demoted to non-league soccer.

At the time, it showed almost no signs of getting back at the feet. In the previous year, the club had just completed the 19th National League. After the takeover, the team certainly changed its image in a positive light. The duo even recorded their journey of the takeover in a documentary called Welcome to Wrexham. When the duo took over, 98.6% of the trust approved it, as per Wales Online.

Now, after the glorious takeover of the football club, the Canadian actor wants to buy a Canadian hockey team as well.

The Vancouver-born actor has an immense amount of love for his motherland. Thus, the actor wants to buy the Ottawa Senators as well. Therefore, he has been working hard to get the team under his name. After the family time at the Wrexham match, he flew to Canada and met with the Senators’ executives as well.

The Deadpool actor even shared his big plans for the team. He wants to take the Senators to a global level. The way he saved the Welsh football club, his Canadian fans are excited for him to acquire the Ottawa Senators as well. There are even slight chances of him teaming up with his co-star, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, as well.

Reportedly, the 46-year-old actor has been one of the favorites of the executives at the Senators. Therefore, his fans are hoping he would get one more sports club under his ownership as well.
