In his interview with The Independent in 2019, the 44-year-old revealed that nobody wanted him in the show. He auditioned for the role when he was struggling in the industry. The Big Love alum was very nervous when he entered the room for a screen test and even dropped a line. But his personal connection with the creator Vince Gilligan saved him, who gave him the chance to do it.
“Vince played his trump card and said, ‘I’m not doing the show unless he’s the guy.’ So, they were like, ‘Alright!’” added the actor. The producer stayed by his side because he believed Paul was the right guy to do. Well, it turned out his faith did not go in vain and Pinkman received unmatched attention from viewers.
