His idea projects the harkening of a “modern dark fairy tale” that could subvert the stereotypical portrayals.

Fresnadillo added that even though Brown’s picturization begins with being “dutiful” to her father, she eventually grows up into an emancipated character. Therefore, unlike the organic leverage of being rescued, she is the catalyst herself for her freedom. As per the director, it is his take on “turning the fairy tale upside down.”. Given that the bids are so upscale about this flick, a distinct portrayal of womanhood may indeed be in the works.
