The Duke and the Duchess of Sussex amassed a horde of controversies as Netflix is soon to bring another anticipated hit with the couple. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently bagged the filming rights of a New York bestseller that reportedly runs parallel to their own life. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, hot is the one who does not. Before his spring nuptials with Markle, Prince Harry was easily one of the top suitable bachelors of the era. Marked as the cruelest TV show ever made, I Wanna Marry Harry had Matthew Hicks with 12 contestants who volunteered to marry a British royal.

However, in reality, there was no Prince Harry present. Disguising himself as the UK royal, Matthew Hicks used to trick the unsuspecting American women “for the purpose of entertainment, wrote Telegraph. The then 23-year-old environmental consultant used to stage himself as important as a royal. Out of the 12 unsuspecting women who spent hours in a staged castle, an American “nobody actress” Kimberly Birch, won the show and “Prince Harry’s” heart. Back then, she was thrown into the quagmire of trolls and criticism that mocked her for believing a royal would marry a B-lister like her. Nonetheless, life imitates art. A few months later, Meghan Markle, the former Suits actress who also started off as a nobody and eventually climbed up the ladder, had the Duke spellbound.

Over the course of time, it was just Prince Harry and Meghan Markle against the entire world. Meghan Markle faced a disproportionate amount of higher criticism and still does to this day as compared to what Birch could have ever received. Nonetheless, be it the TV reality show that might have inspired Markle or the stars that aligned, the two make one of the most influential couples worldwide, bagging the spot for TIMES Magazine for the same.
