For the past year, the royal family of Buckingham Palace has constantly been in the spotlight through the eyes of royal writers and media outlets. While the family’s cracks are obvious now, they cannot stop the ebb and flow of contention that family is family. This is exactly what happened when King Charles and Prince Harry found themselves within the same country earlier this year. However, it did not go as well as the royal family supporters had intended.

Given the disdain their relationship has gained over the years, there could be various reasons why the reigning monarch avoided his son. A royal writer, however, recounts a specific “excuse” given to the Duke during his London sojourn.

Why did King Charles avoid meeting Prince Harry?

The media mongers went insane when they pictured Prince Harry back in the UK six months after the funeral of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, in March. While his visit was prompted by a lawsuit against a group of British tabloids, it was speculated that the Duke intended to take advantage of the occasion to speak with his father, King Charles.  However, according to royal writer Omid Scobie, the King turned down the Duke’s urgent “meeting request.”

According to the author, King Charles had an assistant “get rid” of the Prince under the guise that his father was “overworked.” Interestingly, three weeks after his request was denied, the Duke announced the publication of his book Spare, shocking the reigning monarch. Now that the memoir is available for purchase, the public may bear witness to the shockwaves that are already erupting within the regal doors.

The intention behind the meeting is still not out in the open. However, one theory is that the 39-year-old prince wished to make amends with his father and the royal family. The identical situation was previously revealed by Scobie in the chapters of his forthcoming book.

The best-selling writer, Omid Scobie, has had a close relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as he penned their unofficial biography, Finding Freedom. Further, his book Endgame is already generating a lot of buzz given that it is based on the dynamics of the royal family members all the way from Prince Harry to the late monarch Queen Elizabeth II. In many of these admissions, the writer hinted that the Prince was ready to reconnect with his estranged family.

According to the most recent excerpts from his impending book, Prince Harry was “ready to forget” the ongoing battle with his family, which erupted when he stepped down as a senior working royal. Further, the Duke hopes that his family knows the difficulties that his wife Meghan Markle faced within the royal corridors leading up to their exit from the British monarchy.
