The Fight Club star got the ring designed with the help of an Italian jeweler, Silvia Damiani. Unfortunately, Aniston and Pitt filed a $50 million federal lawsuit against the jeweler for making copies of the design on the Internet. As the New York Post reported, Damiani used the celebrities’ names and got publicity without their permission.
Initially, there was a deal between Pitt and the jeweler that the actor would design an exclusive collection and the Cake actress would appear in the advertisement. However, they did not officially reveal how much the Hollywood celebrities would get paid for this deal. Moreover, Aniston and Pitt agreed to acknowledge the designer’s name in the press release as well. Until that moment, Damiani was supposed to be quiet and break the mold after making the ring.
The jeweler made the now ex-couple unwilling participants in one of her ad campaigns instead. However, in 2002, they resolved the lawsuit and Silvia Damiani also apologized for the unfortunate misunderstanding. She expressed her regret along with her pleasure of working with Brad Pitt and also praised Aniston’s style and aesthetic sensibility. Well, along with resolving legal issues, the now 59-year-old actor once solved Aniston’s professional problem as well.
