Back when Henry Cavill was evading on projects like Superman: Legacy and The Witcher, George Clooney had some surprising advice. He was actually pushing for Idris Elba to take on the James Bond role instead of Cavill. To add to the shock, Cavill was initially set to appear as Superman in The Flash, a movie that had three different potential endings. However, Cavill missed out on this opportunity when Clooney returned to his Batman role from Batman and Robin, ultimately replacing Cavill in the film.
While George Clooney’s impact on the Man of Steel actor’s career may not have been stellar, he did offer some valuable advice to one of Cavill’s co-stars: to steer clear of starring in a DC movie.

Before Ben Affleck donned the Batman cape, it was George Clooney who stepped into the role in Batman and Robin, a film met with an overwhelmingly negative press. Affleck, in an interview addressing the mixed reviews of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, expressed his dismay. Interestingly, Clooney had a conversation with him about it, as revealed in The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast. Clooney recalled advising him, “I said, ‘Don’t do it.”
However, Affleck did not heed the direct advice that stemmed from Clooney’s own experiences as Batman. The 1997 movie had taught Clooney a valuable lesson about the inner workings of the industry. Nevertheless, he acknowledged and admired Affleck’s efforts in the Zack Snyder movie alongside Cavill. Clooney and Affleck had their cinematic collaboration with Argo. However, the advice from the former Batman to the future Batman did not translate into box-office success. The film’s overreliance on CGI left audiences less than impressed, making it a tough watch.
Just as James Gunn’s takeover stripped Cavill of his Superman cape, it also unmasked Clooney, taking away his Batman role in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

However, James Gunn recently debunked these rumors. During an online chat with fans, he stated that Clooney would not be part of the film.

The film explores the evolving relationship between the estranged father and son.
