How Does Henry Cavill’s Exit as Superman Mean Bad News for ‘Superman: Legacy’?
Henry Cavill’s exit as Superman has left the DC fandom with a never-ending void. The British actor’s time as the Man Of Steel was short-lived despite his incredible legacy. Following his comeback in Black Adam, which delighted the fans, James Gunn axed the actor from his role. Even months after Cavill’s departure from the franchise, the fans are sour about it. However, it did not take much time before DC announced David Corenswet as the new Superman for its upcoming film Superman: Legacy.
Superman: Legacy is arguably the most awaited project for fans. The upcoming film will serve as Gunn’s debut movie for his new era at DC. However, Cavill’s departure is likely to cause some hindrance to the new film.

When Henry Cavill returned for Black Adam, fans were optimistic about the actor staying in DC. Moreover, the post-credit scenes gave a perfect storyline for upcoming films for the franchise. Sadly, the fan’s expectations fell short after Cavill bid farewell, right after Black Adam. However, a while ago, Gunn released his Superman hiring timeline. Shockingly, the timeline shows that the director had already started working on Superman: Legacy before the Enola Holmes star returned for Black Adam.
The DC boss confirmed that he started working on the film in August, two months before Cavill reinstated his role. The ordeal does not make sense. DC went years without a Superman, only to release two versions of him. To make matters worse, Gunn stated that Cavill did not match his vision of Superman as a reason behind removing him. However, if the director had already started working on a movie without him, he could have simply stopped his return to Black Adam.
Interestingly, if not Superman, there can be a new role for Cavill at DC.
If not Superman, what role can Henry Cavill play in DC?
Fans will surely kill to have Henry Cavill back in DC. Over the years, the actor has garnered an enormous fan base in the franchise, making him one of the most loved heroes. While James Gunn is in full swing for David Corenswet’s Superman debut, there is one role the British star can take up. Ultraman, the polar opposite of Superman, could be an amazing role for Cavill.

Interestingly, fans are familiar with seeing the actor as Ultraman. Long before Cavill bid farewell to Superman, a fan art teased him dressed up as Ultraman from the comics. However, even though it could have been a good pick for the actor, it is highly unlikely. Moreover, James Gunn seems to be heading in a new direction with DC.
