Just nine months ago, King Charles took over Britain’s throne after the tragic passing of his mother. While his people were looking forward to what the monarch would do, it looks like his plans might have to wait. A few hours ago, it was revealed that the King had cancer and would be undergoing treatment. Although the news no doubt surprised the world, it seemed to come as a surprise to people close to the royal family as well.

In an exclusive interview with People, a place insider opened up about the 75-year-old’s diagnosis. They revealed that they and the rest of the insiders had been “shocked” to find out about the cancer. While everyone seemed to know about his hospital visit, the results came as a bit of a shock to the world. However, at the moment, the type of cancer has not been revealed.
Robert Hardman, a royal biographer, also added that he believed that “in time, we might know” what type of cancer the King had. However, it looks like the monarch has his spirits high. After all, with the medical team catching the symptoms or signs of it early, the chances of him beating it are even higher.
The King has chosen to step back from his royal responsibilities to take care of his health. However, he is not the only royal who has taken a back seat because of recent health concerns.
Prince William postponed royal duties to care for Kate Middleton
Back in January, Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery. While King Charles had gone to see her as she recovered, her husband, Prince William, stepped back from his royal duties to take care of his ailing wife and his 3 children. Although the 41-year-old had wanted to get back on track once things were a little settled at home, his father’s diagnosis might have tossed a wrench into his plans.
