Running for nearly a decade, the legacy of Friends as a show that has redefined pop culture remains undebated. Throughout its ten seasons, several guest stars entered its hallowed stages and left with a lasting imprint not only on the show but on the audience as well. However, among the estimated 73 such cameos and noted appearances, few such as Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, and Tom Selleck managed to attain a heartthrob status. And so also Dermot Mulroney for his brief romantic stint opposite Jennifer Aniston, except that he kind of forgot about it.

In a rather fascinating story, the 60-year-old once recalled the uncanny references out in public that eventually reminded him of his fame.

Speaking to Express UK in November 2016, he recalled how he was “stopped in the street being called ‘Gavin’”.

Retelling the story with a laugh, the role fading from his memory may stand attributed to him considering it a “very obscure appearance in a sitcom really about 18 years ago.” However, with the global broadcast and availability of Friends on streaming platforms, his stint as Gavin in about three episodes of season nine of the show, as a budding romantic interest for Aniston’s Rachel Green received a boost. Additionally, he also mentioned how “very young viewers” now stood as his wide admirers from a massively loyal fandom.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston herself, recently, sort of forgot her role as Rachel Green as well.

In an advertorial for her self-founded brand, LolaVie, Jennifer Aniston pulled off a brilliant marketing campaign that managed to call back to her Friends days. In the spot, during an interaction with a fellow actress, the 55-year-old remarked at the former’s shaggy bob. However, when prompted that it was her hairstyle or “the Rachel”, the actress acted as if she had no memory of the same.

Regardless of her marketing tactics, Jennifer Aniston stands very reminiscent and vocal for Friends. Furthermore, her heartfelt eulogy for Matthew Perry and her still strong bonds with the remaining core cast stand as reminders that she still stays well aware of her Rachel Green roots.
