How Climate Conscious Arnold Schwarzenegger Gave Mercedes Its Best Idea in Years
Fame and fortune are synonymous with a plethora of things ranging from the fruit of hard work to a garage of high-end cars. But in 1984 pop queen Madonna poignantly summed up all of humanity and its stage in her iconic lyrics “We are living in a material world, And I am a material girl“. And in 1998, Adam Sandler gave it a more inclusive touch as he added, “And I’m a material girl… or boy“. However, it was only Arnold Schwarzenegger who did justice to Madonna’s iconic lyrics, all the while making sure humanity is not reduced to a few cents as he brought the best of both worlds in his Mercedes G-Wagen.
To find a G-Wagen in a celebrity’s garage is almost as normal as finding an “I’ll be back,” punchline in Schwarzenegger’s movies. However, there is one crucial detail that separates the G-Wagen in the Austrian Oak’s garage. A detail that shows how despite having a fairly large body surface area, not a single cell in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s body is representative of mediocrity. The detail in question is the electric motor that makes his G-Wagen an EV.

To convert his 2016 G-Wagen into an EV, the Austrian Oak had to provide a fancy amount to Kreisel, known for all things electronic.
Schwarzenegger’s choice to turn his G-Wagen into an electrical vehicle stems from his love for the environment. And if this cost him a couple of million and a 190 miles restriction, then be it.
The Austrian Oak was the first to turn his Mercedes beauty into an EV. And this concept of making one of its best sellers thrive on powered batteries instead of fuels intrigued not just environmentalists but Mercedes itself.

Mercedes and G-Wagen have always been the definition of opulence. Its cheapest costs around $140,000 and the one with the highest tag price has a stomach for 18 mpg combined, making it not the most efficient model. Thus, Schwarzenegger’s G-Wagen EV served as the beacon of hope for the brand that was slowly losing its charm to rise back up.
The EV G-Wagen soon became a class in its own as Mercedes ticked the environmentally friendly box. So much so that the brand is currently testing a zero-emission G-Class. While it is unclear when this roaring beauty will be out, you can be assured that Arnold Schwarzenegger definitely has it on his wishlist.
