The Netflix documentary on Schwarzenegger gave the fans a great in-depth view of the actor’s early life. A segment of the documentary series covered the initial days of the actor’s life in Thal, Austria, where he grew up. Interestingly, it also showed us the house in which The Terminator star grew up. Schwarzenegger lived in a one-floor apartment with his mother, Aurelia, father, Gustav, and older brother, Meinhard.
While the actor enjoyed his own room despite living in a small house, he had to compromise on a lot of basic necessities. As per reports from BBC, the house Schwarzenegger spent his childhood in did not even have running water. As shocking as it sounds back in the day, the house did not even have electricity. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s childhood was anything but normal. The actor grew up in an incredibly strict household. His father, Gustav, was a cop and a Nazi supporter. Unsurprisingly, Gustav wanted the Austrian Oak to grow up and become a cop, too. Reports from Business Insider suggest that the actor was never fond of his father and called him a tyrant.
On the other hand, Gustav was incredibly strict and often hit his children with belts. He even forced his sons to have a brawl with each other.
