The one major point of attraction for The Boys has always been its satire of the superhero genre with a darkly comical lens. Arguably, the biggest parody in the series has been the character of Homelander, or one might say, the twisted version of Superman. In this clash between DC Comics and Dynamite Entertainment, one debate has been a constant in the fandom: Who is more powerful between the two American superheroes?

Ahead of The Boys' fourth season premiere, which is only a stone’s throw away, here is an argument on who would win in the ultimate battle between Homelander and Superman. 

Homelander possesses all the Superman-like abilities, including speed, heat vision, super strength, X-ray vision, enhanced vocal cords, and durability. However, when comparing these powers between the two superheroes, Superman holds the upper hand. The reason being that Homelander was merely a result of a scientific experiment, whereas Superman's super-strength stems from a superior advanced civilization. For example, both Homelander and Superman can see through objects. However, The Boys' character trails behind with objects lined up with zinc.

Even with flight, though Homelander can lift himself off the ground and fly at great speed, only Superman has been able to fly to the farthest regions of outer space. Additionally, Superman is acquainted with fighting forces as strong as himself, whether it be Shazam, Black Adam, or Doomsday. However, Homelander has not yet faced someone as strong as himself, as the rest of The Seven barely stand next to the pastiche of DC's poster boy in terms of power. Nonetheless, that does not mean he will not put up a tough fight against Superman.

Superman may be greater in strength, but Homelander has the key to the Man of Steel’s weaknesses, which he will not hesitate to employ. 

Superman is a mighty hero who uses his superpowers to help others, which makes him a favorite among the public he is supposed to protect. He also abhors the idea of taking a life, even if the life in question is someone as evil as Homelander. These qualities hugely contrast with those of Homelander, who has no regard for human life. Therefore, Homelander could very well take advantage of Superman’s empathy for his people.

Looking from this perspective, if the battle between the two superheroes takes place on a vacant planet where no innocent lives are involved, it is certain that Superman will take Homelander down in the blink of an eye. However, if it is on Earth, with millions of lives at stake, no one can anticipate the extent to which cheap blows Homelander will fire to take down Superman.
