Hollywood Insider Shares Behind-The-Scenes Details About Andrew Garfield’s Special 'Sing Sing' LA Screening
We Live in Time has officially become one of A24’s biggest hits at the domestic box office. The film, which stars the Oscar-nominated Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, has been getting a lot of attention ever since its release- so much so that it is already being talked about as a worthy Oscar contender. While critics still cannot stop raving about the movie and its performances, Garfield decided to take a step back and give some love to another A24 film that hit the big screen earlier this year- Sing Sing- with a special screening.
A Hollywood insider, recently, shared all the behind-the-scenes details of Garfield’s special LA screening of Sing Sing.

Matt Neglia, the owner and editor-in-chief of the Next Best Picture website, recently shared on X that Andrew Garfield hosted a special screening of Sing Sing last night in LA. Garfield spent the evening celebrating with writer-director Greg Kwedar and actors Colman Domingo, Clarence Maclin, Sean San José, and Sean Johnson- who is also an alumnus of the Rehabilitation Through the Arts program at New York's Sing Sing prison, on which the movie is based.
"I heard it played very well," Matt Neglia reported. He also added, "A24 is doing everything to make sure this one isn’t forgotten”. The Clint Bentley-written drama has already earned praise and several awards at film festivals since its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. And, as expected, it is also getting Oscar buzz, alongside Andrew Garfield’s We Live in Time.
Looking at past trends, it is very possible that both We Live in Time and Sing Sing could get Oscar nominations. Here is why.
Why A24 might rule the Oscars in 2025?
Andrew Garfield, Florence Pugh, and Colman Domingo have all been nominated for Oscars before, but none of them have taken home the award. Experts have often pointed out that being a former Oscar nominee can signal respect from other Academy members and the committee. This was even discussed in 2022 when Will Smith won the Oscar over nominees like Garfield, despite many believing that his performance in King Richard was not his best.

Since none of these talented actors in We Live in Time or Sing Sing have won an Oscar yet, these A24 films could be just the opportunity they need to finally get the recognition they deserve from the Academy. Especially with We Live in Time, the film’s box office success will likely help build even more momentum as the awards season heats up, giving Garfield and Pugh a better shot at those coveted nominations.
