A new Superman is in the making. David Corenswet will be taking the reins of James Gunn’s Superman franchise in 2025. As the movie’s production picks up pace, a whole host of set photos revealing much of the cast in costume are keeping fans busy. Along with that came some first peeks of what the new Superman looks like. However, not everyone seemed to be charmed by Henry Cavill's replacement and his Clark Kent disguise.
Recently, another set picture of David Corenswet surfaced on the web, showcasing the actor in his Clark Kent look, working for the Daily Planet. However, fans seemed to have taken a dislike to the curly mane of Clark Kent, which was quite a radical departure from the most recent iterations of Kent. Before this, Corenswet in his Superman costume received some backlash as well.

The reason was the suit’s baggy nature and its lack of modern design elements, which did not sit well with fans. The suit also changed its logo and brought back the Kryptonian’s iconic red briefs. Some fans appreciated the makers’ attempts to make the costume more comic-accurate, sparking a debate on social media. Even for the new Clark Kent hairstyle, they had a similar mixed reaction.

There is already some pre-existing skepticism in fans’ hearts regarding David Corenswet’s takeover of the legend, Henry Cavill. Therefore, any minor misstep is going to bring massive scrutiny from them. The changes James Gunn has introduced to the new Superman are causing fans to struggle with so many alterations at once. Many of them shared their disappointment over Corenswet’s "hideous" hairstyle on X, something Henry Cavill has already faced in one of his recent ventures.
Meanwhile, there were some who saw the necessity for these changes, although they were not exactly singing praises about the hairstyle either.

The upcoming movie, now titled Superman, is slated to hit the big screen next July. No matter how much speculation surrounds the new direction, only time will tell whether Gunn’s decisions will strike a chord with audiences.
