In a surprising turn of events, two beloved members of the original Justice League, Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, will no longer be part of the upcoming projects. Since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as the new DC bosses, everything changed. Henry Cavill was supposed to reprise his role as Superman in an upcoming Man of Steel sequel after his cameo in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. However, in the last round of talks, James Gunn stood firm on developing his vision with Superman: Legacy.

However, as per the original DCEU vision by Zack Snyder, the trio of Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Gadot starred together in the mixed bag of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now, even though Gunn has done away with the first two actors, Gadot is reportedly returning for a sequel reboot to her last Wonder Woman: 1984.

Talking to ComicBook, Gadot revealed that From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together. It is safe to assume that James Gunn is potentially still keeping the Gal Gadot card to play later. The actress made her solo DC debut Wonder Woman with Patty Jenkins, who had confirmed that a threequel is no longer in the works.

James Gunn, the filmmaker has directed DC projects The Suicide Squad and the anticipated Peacemaker series. However, after teaming up with Peter Safran, co-CEO of DC Studios, Gunn unveiled a new slate: ten new movies and shows that will showcase a diverse range of beloved and lesser-known characters from DC comics. Along with his Superman: Legacy set to release in two years, a Supergirl and Swamp Thing movie is in the works as well. And now we may have a potential Wonder Woman reboot.

However, the current DC slate is confusing for fans to follow. The soon-to-be-released Blue Beetle is expected to start the new slate, but again, news of returning characters seems to counter the ‘new slate’ theory. The recently released The Flash movie paid its tributes and reset the DC timeline to allow Gunn’s projects to go through. But replacing beloved actors like Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck has already left a sour taste in fans’ mouths.
