Henry Cavill Once Shared How He Felt Wearing the Superman Costume for the First Time
In 2013, Henry Cavill took up the role of DC’s Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. While he stole hearts when he portrayed the iconic character, the actor once revealed it was not always easy playing such a beloved character. Although he has since given up the role, the actor had loved his time in the shoes of the Kryptonian before the rug got pulled from under him.
Years before the 40-year-old dealt with body image issues from his superhero role, the actor once ended up sharing how intoxicating the moment was when he first donned the red and blue caped costume.

Back in 2013, Henry Cavill was promoting his then-upcoming film, Man of Steel. While the Zack Snyder film was being released, the actor opened up about his first experience donning the iconic Superman suit. In an interview with Tim Talks in 2021, he revealed that he was thrilled beyond belief that he got to wear it. The now 40-year-old also shared that “there was something very special” about that first time.
“it was an honor to be chosen to do this very important duty,” continued Cavill. While he might have had a wonderful time on set, it looks like the star did not feel the same way about being Superman for the rest of the world. After all, it is a pretty huge responsibility for anyone to carry on their shoulders. Years after taking on the role, The Tudors star ended up sharing his beliefs about playing the character.
Cavill might have been everyone’s favorite casting for Superman. However, the star seemed to find keeping up appearances a little difficult.

Back in 2022, before Henry Cavill lost his role as Superman, the actor had made an appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. Shortly after he had sent the world into a frenzy, the 40-year-old had gone on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to talk about the future of his role. In the show, the actor ended up revealing that playing Superman was “a responsibility in public as well as it is on camera.”
While Cavill had gone on to say that the role had taught him a lot, he unfortunately ended up losing it. Although he may no longer be Superman, the actor seems to have planned out his next projects and has been working on them. Unfortunately, his most recent project, Argylle, was a flop. However, his upcoming Guy Ritchie film might just end up being his comeback.
