Henry Cavill Once Revealed the Importance Behind the Superman Suit Selection for ‘Black Adam’
Who will ever forget Henry Cavill as Superman? Although the star may no longer be in the role, his portrayal of the classic superhero will forever be a fan favorite. Thankfully, the last time that the world got to see the actor don his iconic red cape was not too long ago. Just last year, the world was blessed with Black Adam. While the film already starred big names, the cameo list was insane as well.
Out of all of them, Cavill’s cameo was the one that ended up receiving the best reaction as he put on an iconic Superman suit. However, shortly after the film, the actor gave his reasoning behind his choice.

Back in 2022, Henry Cavill sat down with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast to talk about his then-upcoming plans for Superman. During the conversation, he was asked about why he chose the Man of Steel Superman costume for his role in Black Adam. As the film had been released only days before, everyone was still reeling from his cameo. The now 40-year-old admitted that it was something he found “very emotionally connective.”
“It was a very powerful moment,” admitted Cavill as he addressed putting on the iconic costume after all these years. He also added that there was a lot of “nostalgia attached to the suit.” Unfortunately, it was the last time that the world could see their favorite star embody the role. Shortly after all the dust settled on the film and crazy cameos, James Gunn took over the DCU and ended up letting the actor go.
Although he lost his most memorable and iconic role, Cavill immediately hopped back into the saddle and trotted off on his next adventure.

Superman was not Henry Cavill’s only iconic role. After all, he did portray Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher for 3 long seasons. However, shortly after getting the boot from DC, the actor let go of his role in the series as well. While fans were worried about when they would see him on screen again, just earlier this year, he picked up a project called Argylle.
From Dua Lipa to John Cena and more, the film is packed with celebrities. However, once the trailer dropped, fans were more focused on why Cavill had a weird hairdo in the film. Thankfully, the answer came shortly after. Now, after months of working on it, the action film is ready to hit theatres on February 2nd, 2024.
