Henry Cavill May Never Return to This $21 Billion Franchise Thanks to His Latest Outing With ‘Argylle’
Henry Cavill has donned the red cape of Superman and helmed the sword of Geralt in The Witcher. The British actor has swayed hearts and ushered into the spotlight a new era with his chiseled looks and charismatic on-screen performances. However, the actor was subject to exits from both of his beloved and famed outings. Yet, news soon came in of him being back on the screens.
After a long wait to see the actor take over the spotlight in a new outing, Cavill sang his way in with Dua Lipa in Argylle. Although looks like it did come at a cost.

If there is one thing that has stayed a constant throughout the Man of Steel actor’s projects, it would be action. Lots of it and full of grit. As Henry Cavill gears up to rock a never-before-seen hairstyle and shine as a spy in the upcoming spy-thriller, Argylle, it looks all but set that he is never returning to the $21 billion James Bond franchise. At 40 years old, the actor definitely does have the chops to headline a big franchise. Yet, it would either be Bond or Argylle. Both require a long-term commitment and studios may not like having the same super spy on two different boats.
When Daniel Craig hung his boots as the super spy following 2021’s No Time To Die, fans were eagerly looking forward to Cavill being the next 007. Moreover, given the fact that the 40-year-old had already auditioned and was second-in-line to Craig for 2005’s Casino Royale, the casting did make sense. Yet, his latest role in Argylle is all but a parody of the very iconic character. Thus, it is all set but time for the star to bid adieu to another franchise.
Despite Cavill’s looming departure from the James Bond franchise, there is all but action lined up for him.

Henry Cavill has long been a franchise starter. Be it DCEU or Netflix’s The Witcher, they all began with Cavill at the helm. In a few months from now, the Brit would be doing the same for Argylle. However, neither is this Cavill’s first instance of starring in a spy thriller nor is this his last planned outing in action. The actor had very famously essayed the role of Augustus Walker in Mission Impossible: Fallout alongside Tom Cruise. Moreover, the commanding presence on the screen he had displayed in his highest-rated flick allayed any doubts about his acting prowess.
Following the release of his stint with Dua Lipa in February 2024, the actor has several projects lined up. Collaborating with his girlfriend, Natalie Viscuso, the actor would bring the Warhammer 40K universe to life. Along with it, a Highlander reboot is also in the works. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and The Rosie Project are two of his confirmed projects. Therefore, there is no dearth of Cavill’s action projects.
