Henry Cavill May Get Pitted Against This ‘Oppenheimer’ Star for the Iconic Role of James Bond
One of the most coveted roles in Hollywood is that of the suave super-spy with a license to kill. Otherwise known as James Bond, few actors have ever turned down this much-desired role. But many hearts have been broken over it. And in the running for the next chance is none other than Henry Cavill. Also rising to the challenge of going up against the Immortals actor is Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The 33-year-old has already established himself in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is now eyeing the Bond role.
But the newest addition to the list of contenders will have both actors feeling at least a tad bit nervous, if not fully terrified. Because as it turns out, working alongside Christopher Nolan gives actors the kind of credibility that opens many doors.

Still enjoying the success of Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy now has another reason to celebrate. As reported by Express, Murphy’s role as ‘the father of the atomic bomb’ has impacted audiences enough for him to be considered for 007’s role. With this shift in dynamics, the 47-year-old has already left behind Rege-Jean Page, who was earlier one of Cavill’s biggest competitors.
Along with the Bridgerton sensation, Murphy has walked over Tom Hardy to secure the fifth position on the odds chart. And if Christopher Nolan bags the director’s position for Bond, one thing is for sure. Having seen immense success by pairing up with Murphy on Batman Begins, Inception, and Dunkirk, Nolan might naturally favor the Peaky Blinders actor.
Two years after Daniel Craig’s exit, fans’ speculations continue to run high as to who will finally secure the position. With so many worthy opponents, Cavill’s chances may dwindle further than they already have.

For those that don’t know, this is not the first time Cavill is hoping to bag Bond’s title. Having auditioned in 2006 as well, he was rejected by Martin Campbell, who chose Daniel Craig over him. Although reports still favor Henry Cavill, especially because of his association with Matthew Vaughn, there is a long way to go for the actor.
With his exit from The Witcher and losing out on the role of James Gunn’s Superman, Cavill’s chances could be getting slimmer. Growing doubtful of the 40-year-old’s chances, fans are left feeling dismayed. But there’s still hope for lovers of the Bond franchise if the talented Irishman Cillian Murphy plays James Bond instead.
