Once upon a time, in the realm of superheroes, the chiseled jaw of Henry Cavill emerged from the shadows. With his dashing looks and the acting prowess to match, Cavill sauntered onto the screen with Man of Steel. His breakthrough role quickly became the actor’s most notable film. From there, it was a steady upward and onward journey for him. However, the actor lost both Geralt and Superman last year, upsetting fans. 

Despite Cavill giving all to most of his projects, he has seen a decline in popularity amongst filmmakers. After he departed from The Witcher, he was stripped of his Superman role as well. By replacing him, David Corenswet brought on the wrath of Cavill’s loyal fanbase. And when a new image of him preparing for the role emerged on Twitter (now X), fans jumped in on the take. 

Just like Liam Hemsworth who replaced the English actor in The Witcher, Corenswet has some big shoes to fill in. And the post suggested that the new face of Superman has started “bulking up” for the part. Although the image showcased only his back to the camera, his widening physique was undeniable. 

The Enola Holmes actor went through a similar transition for the Superman role once, and users were quick to point it out. While some people were in awe of the hard work Corenswet was putting in, others were not as impressed.

Netizens stayed loyal to Henry Cavill while admiring Corenswet

Although Corenswet and Cavill have faced comparisons by fans in the past, fans have clearly not had enough of it. One user went as far as to call him “Henry Cavill lite.” The comments ranged from appreciation to comparison as DC fans went into a frenzy. Some were even convinced that the image was of Henry Cavill himself!

One user compared Corenswet’s “build” to another Batman actor, Robert Pattinson. Another was simply “not impressed.”

On the other hand, many showed their support for him and were in awe of his physique.

Every time a new face replaces a much-loved veteran like Cavill, fans tend to lash out. It seemed like Corenswet would be asked to prove himself as a true superhero before earning the trust of DC fanatics!
