The moment Universal Pictures released the Argylle trailer and snippets surfaced on social media, the spotlight immediately fell on Henry Cavill‘s unique hairstyle in the movie. Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming spy spectacle will feature Cavill in a surprisingly austere haircut as agent Argylle. This was puzzling for fans who have grown accustomed to his dark curls or Geralt of Rivia’s straight white hair in The Witcher. While this appearance is a far cry from the typical suaveness expected of a secret agent like James Bond, it definitely added an extra layer of hilarity to the character.

The square-shaped haircut raised many eyebrows among fans and birthed numerous memes across social media. Recently, Cavill, at last, unveiled the reason that inspired his hair-raising choice in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming Argylle

Henry Cavill made an appearance on Total Film’s latest issue via Games Radar this Thursday, where he opened up about how Matthew Vaughn persuaded him to take on the peculiar hairdo in Argylle. According to Cavill, Vaughn assured him that he could make the hairdo look good. Sharing whether he could pull off that hairstyle in real life, Cavill mentioned that a flattop does not just happen overnight. “It takes work”, said the 40-year-old British actor.

Therefore, he was unsure whether he was up for “time or the patience for that kind of carry-on” demand in his daily routine. Although the laughable haircut added humor to his larger-than-life covert tasks in the film, there is a legitimate and sensible rationale behind this seemingly ridiculous hairdo. Argylle took inspiration from the book of the same name which will hit the shelves just a month before the movie releases- January 4, 2024.

As per Argylle’s trailer, agent Argylle was a creation of Elly Conway’s creative mind. Therefore, there is also a chance that the peculiar haircut was a part of Conway’s creativity since Argylle can look however she wants him to look. Additionally, it could also be a nostalgic nod to the ’80s or early ’90s, possibly influenced by a celebrity or someone from Conway’s childhood.
