Henry Cavill as James Bond? Actor’s Favorite Drink Adds Another Similarity With the Super Spy
In 2021, No Time to Die made its way to the theaters and closed the chapter of Daniel Craig’s take on the super spy. Essaying the role for more than a decade, the actor’s role had come across as the first 21st-century iteration of the 007 agent and after his exit, swift talks circled on his possible successors. Among the crowd of massive talents, one name echoed far ahead of others to take over the mantle. A bevy of fans and cinema enthusiasts pictured Henry Cavill as the next James Bond and, despite no progress as of yet, he remains an ideal suitor.
Interestingly, one acute observation brought about another striking similarity between the actor and the fictional character far beneath the surface.

The world of James Bond is far deeper than the intrigues and thrill of spy action. Luxe, suits, cars, classy aesthetics, and fancy armory mark the continued interest in the franchise. In several of his books, Ian Fleming has mentioned a shaken martini as James Bond’s drink of choice, which coincidentally also happens to be Henry Cavill’s go-to. A fansite, Mr. Cavill, had mentioned way back in 2009 that a dirty martini with olive brines sits well with the British actor.
The choice of drinks marks a complex connection between the two personas that fans can hardly categorize separately in their minds. Additionally, his physical stature, keen sense of action, fighting skills, and dedication to the craft make the ex-Superman actor a perfect fit for the next 007. However, despite numerous fan requests and campaigns, the production company behind the franchise has yet to revamp its slate for a reboot, prolonging the anticipation.
Remarkably, back in 2006, Henry Cavill had almost cast himself as James Bond, but fate had other plans in mind.

Auditioning for James Bond in 2006’s Casino Royale, Henry Cavill made his way alongside Daniel Craig as one of the finalists. However, his then-young age of the 20s made the producers opt for his senior and more experienced co-finalist. Unfortunately, close to two decades later, and now in his 40s, the Justice League actor’s age has once again made him an outcast for the role.
Starring as Bond would bind Cavill to play him for at least a decade. Yet, with the studio looking for a younger option, fate may not be by his side. Regardless, he has found his saving grace in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle. The upcoming February 2 spy thriller will take on a meta-universal approach and come in as a mind-bending yet similar flick to the 007 franchise flicks.
