Henry Cavill may have already broken into the world of superheroes many years ago. However, with the actor no longer portraying DC’s Superman and Netflix’s sword-fighting Geralt of Rivia, his schedule seems to be wide open to take on another role. Most 90s kids might only picture James Marsden in the iconic X-Men role of Cyclops, but the actor’s days of playing the mutant are long behind him. While most people may not be ready to let go of the actor’s stunning performance, with decades having passed, it is time for the role to be passed on. Although many stars are lining up to give it a shot, Henry Cavill might just be the best option.
Henry Cavill would have to step outside his comfort zone
Ever since Henry Cavill took on the role of DC’s Superman, he has only played a righteous and fair character who believed in the battle of good vs. evil. However, if the actor were to take on the role of Cyclops, the way he would have to act and view the world would have to change. With the 40-year-old playing a morally gray character, fans could end up seeing a brand new side to the star.
Apart from that, his chiseled features and commanding presence could also add to the air of Cyclops. While it might be something completely new to fans, it might just end up being one of his most captivating roles yet. However, not everyone seems to want the actor to land the role. There seem to be some people who believe that Cavill should stick to characters like his role in The Witcher.
While action-packed movies and shows might be a part of Cavill’s go-to genre, the actor taking on a morally grey character could just take his acting to a whole new level.
Just like with Superman, Henry Cavill could captivate Cyclops fans
When Henry Cavill embodied Superman for the first time, the whole world was captivated by the star. From his build to his behavior to his body language, he managed to get it all down. He even ended up becoming the fan-favorite actor to portray the role. While Cyclops and the iconic superhero may be complete opposites, they do have a few things in common, which could make the 40-year-old the ideal choice for the role.
Apart from the immense responsibility placed on both the characters, they are also constantly in an inner battle with themselves. With Cavill already understanding the pressure that comes with just a deep and beloved character, he might just be the only one who can give fans the perfect look at Cyclops’ steadfast leadership, moral compass, and inner conflict.

The last time that the world got to see James Marsden’s Cyclops was way back in 2006 in X-Men: The Last Stand. While he made a brief cameo in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, it was not enough to keep the character’s memory alive. With it being a decade since the character’s last on-screen appearance, Henry Cavill could just take the character’s fame to some brand new heights.
After all, the actor has been adored since 2013, when he first landed his role as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Cavill taking on the role of Cyclops could just wind up bringing in a lot more attention for the beloved MCU character. However, with rumors that the actor could play Doctor Doom, there is no saying what surprises Marvel fans are in for.
