The past few months have been a rough ride for Hollywood fans, especially so for those who loved Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel. Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the franchise, they have been shaking things up quite a bit in the DC universe. As David Corenswet is ready to tie the red flowing cape on, nostalgia for the former Superman actor is hitting fans even more intensely. However, Cavill has stepped into another franchise which has been the talk of the town lately. 

With Argylle, directed by Matthew Vaughn, Cavill is on the brink of making his mark in the spy genre. Meanwhile, one of his co-stars from the upcoming movie is stepping into the void he left in the DC universe.

Gunn is currently working on several projects, including the animated series Creature Commandos which will kick off the new DCU in 2024. Following the military superhumans, Corenswet would make his way to DC with the theatrical Superman: Legacy reboot. However, there is another DC project that fans have been eagerly anticipating. It is the sequel to the 2022 HBO TV series, Peacemaker, starring John Cena. Recently, the co-CEO of DC gave away an important update about Peacemaker season 2 on Instagram. 

Cena, who will be appearing in the 2024 movie Argylle, also plays the fictional antihero PeaceMaker in DC. Owing to the writers’ strikes, the second installment of the 2022 series was on hold for a long time. And now as the uprisings have drawn to a close, Gunn shared on Instagram that he is back to working on Season 2 of the hit DC series. When an Instagram user @dramaturgicallyspeaking asked about a season 2 update on Gunn’s post, he replied, commenting, “writing it now”. 

While Peacemaker is under production, Cena is already showcasing his superhuman strength in the upcoming spy action comedy film.

Universal Pictures dropped the official trailer of the upcoming Vaughn movie last week. While the teaser did not give a glimpse of the main cast, its trailer gave a treasure trove of buzz-worthy moments. Whether it was Cavill’s unusual hairstyle or getting a sneak peek at Cavill and Dua Lipa’s chemistry, the trailer sparked numerous topics for online chatter. However, a particular scene featuring Cena and the ‘Levitating’ singer had everyone in fits of giggles.

Both Lipa and Cena featured in Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar movie Barbie, which became a cultural phenomenon this year. And one could tell from the trailer that in the upcoming movie, both the stars will fight each other. In one of the scenes, the former wrestler casually lifts Lipa with one arm as she tries to escape on a bike. Not only did it generate a laugh-out-loud moment, but also made it clear that the 46-year-old will be all buff in the movie.
