“He better…” – Bryce Dallas Howard Issues a Friendly Warning for Henry Cavill and His James Bond Prospects
If asked, Henry Cavill could be the next James Bond. In the last year, the world has lost its mind over the possibility of the actor becoming 007. While he broke hearts as he left Netflix’s series, The Witcher, and joined the upcoming spy thriller, Argylle, the star’s fans were hoping to see him become the ultimate spy. Apart from just his fans, it looks like Bryce Dallas Howard, a co-star from the Man of Steel‘s latest thriller, feels the same way.
With the promotions for the film at their peak, the actress ended up giving Cavill a friendly, yet rather surprising, warning about taking the potential role.

The countdown for Argylle has begun. With the thriller’s release only days away, Henry Cavill and his co-stars, Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell, sat down with Geek Culture for an exclusive interview. After talking about the film for a while, the interviewer asked the 40-year-old whether he would take the role of James Bond if it were offered to him. Before he could answer, the actress jumped the gun and said, “He better.”
While her friendly warning left the whole group cracking up, Cavill answered, saying that he had “no idea” what Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson were thinking. He also revealed that he thought it would be exciting to be a part of the franchise as Bond himself or even as a villain. Although he had been rejected from the franchise once before, the 40-year-old’s schedule left him ready to take on the role if it came.
Cavill may have gone up against the iconic Daniel Craig for the role of James Bond. However, there was only one rather unchangeable criterion where the actor ended up losing it all.
Why Henry Cavill was rejected from the James Bond franchise
7 years before Henry Cavill donned the iconic red Superman cape, the actor was trying to break into another massive franchise. It was the high-speed spy world of James Bond. During the 2006 franchise reboot, the creators were looking for an actor to play the character. While they ultimately landed on Daniel Craig, who continued the role until 2021, the now 40-year-old star had also tried out for the role but ended up being rejected.

Although he might have had the talent to carry such a deep and detached character, his age stopped him from trying it out. While Cavill might end up getting a second chance at the role, there is no saying what could happen. However, the lack of an answer has not stopped fans from putting forth their other choices for the Bond role.
