The Marvel Cinematic Universe has its plate full of action-cartel releases stacked up for rollouts in time to come. With each project outdoing the anticipation of the one prior, Marvel Studios is ready to rock it out at the box office with a new year full of blockbuster resolutions. In the forthcoming Captain America: Brave New World, Harrison Ford will make his MCU debut as the newly elected US President Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross on February 14, 2025. William Hurt previously played Red Hulk in many Marvel films. In the latest issue of Empire Magazine (via ComicBook), Ford appeared to nearly confirm Ross’ survival with a teaser that he was just waiting on his “new assignment.” “I think it’ll be fascinating to see where that character goes, if he goes anywhere,” Ford played coy, showing excitement for another potential return.

Ford was possibly referring to the survival of the character after on-set photos previously pointed to its curtain call. Although fans might have to wait until the release to know it all, the filmmaker, Julius Onah, had only praises for Ford, whose performance was so “mind-blowing” that the crew and cast were screaming F-bombs in jaw-drops. While Onah was already on cloud nine to bring back the Hulk, who was more of a “rage monster,” Ford was a little apprehensive if he could do justice to Hurt’s legacy.

Harrison Ford’s concerns with overtaking Red Hulk in the MCU

In the latest Empire issue for the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, Harrison Ford admitted he was a “little concerned” about taking forward the legacy of Red Hulk from William Hurt. What got him going regardless was his vision to “find the right way” to assume the character after what the audience has already seen. Ford warned about his modest familiarity with the Marvel Cinematic Universe but added that he watched some really great actors find a home within.

It apparently got Ford thinking, “why not me?”. However, ringing it all back to how the preps began for him to slip into Red Hulk’s character, Ford likened it to “just another day at the office.” He confessed that understanding the filmmaker’s vision was a top priority, and putting his mind to it made the transformation all the easier. Although there was no intricate dissecting of the ifs and buts, given his teasers, what is a wait of a month or two for the comic book geeks who have braved through multiverses like a cakewalk?
