“Hadn’t run his fat-a**...”- Ryan Reynolds Bids an R-Rated Goodbye to Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm Post 'Deadpool & Wolverine'

If fans thought Deadpool & Wolverine’s release in the theaters put an end to the F-bombs, they clearly have not met Ryan Reynolds. As the MCU’s flagship release makes its well-deserved victory lap with anticipation of licking the billion-dollar mark at the box office this weekend, the third biggest R-rated release overseas still finds it hard to recover from the colorful antics of Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth. Reynolds has been on a roll honoring the Marvel character cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, including Chris Evans' Johnny Storm.

Fresh off the unapologetic portrayal of Marvel's regenerating degenerate, Reynolds, however, could not resist the colorful language in his not-so-sentimental farewell to Evans.

Ryan Reynolds may have been the Marvel Jesus, but every cameo featured in the MCU's priority-tagged Deadpool & Wolverine helped elevate him to that status. Following the release of what Hugh Jackman calls a romantic comedy, Reynolds penned love letters to all the Marvel characters on Instagram, including a less-than-sweet note for Chris Evans, who played Johnny Storm. Reynolds took the opportunity to cheekily highlight Johnny’s fatal flaw, teasing, “it wouldn’t have been necessary if he hadn’t run his fat-a** mouth around Cassandra.”

Initially, the Deadpool actor recognized the challenge of saying goodbye to Evans' Johnny Storm. Yet, true to a chameleon-like switch, he barely missed a beat before unleashing a flurry of F-bombs, even cheekily targeting Cassandra Nova in his trademark wit for leaving his organs scattered on the ground. True to his anti-heroic persona, Reynolds wrapped up the letter with a "wherever you are..." before finally putting out the flames.

While it seemed that Reynolds had a tough time saying goodbye to Evans' Johnny Storm, Deadpool & Wolverine also gave him an opportunity to extend a warm welcome to another character: Gambit.

Ryan Reynolds has delivered a box office boost to the MCU, and in return, it has provided Marvel fans with countless moments to cherish the legacy of Marvel Comics. While Deadpool & Wolverine saw the return of many beloved heroes, it also introduced a new one: Gambit, played by Channing Tatum. Reynolds took to Instagram to celebrate Gambit's debut, likening Tatum’s journey to the role with his own path to Deadpool, stating, “Gambit is a guy Chan was born to play.”

For Reynolds, Tatum did not discover Gambit, but rather that Gambit found “his author in Chan.” The Deadpool actor recognized the difficulty of bidding farewell to characters with such significant legacies, but also acknowledged the necessity of rooting for the new ones. With Tatum in the role, Reynolds believes it could not be a better fit. Thus, Deadpool & Wolverine stand as the Marvel savior the MCU was hoping for, as it not only revived what was lost but also unearthed something that was never truly lost.
